Preface: VP of Product had to come down and tell us to shut up we were laughing so hard, so if you're at work be warned. So as with any other day we're having a group forum... Somehow we started talking about a "Turducken". Well, I had never heard of this item so I naturally inquired to the fellow IT team... "It is a cornish hen, duck and turkey item, also know as English Christmas Pie." I reply with "Oh really is it a blend of meats?". They say, "Nay, the cornish hen is stuffed up the duck then the duck is in turn stuffed up the turkey." WHAT? Oh. My. God. :eek6: Astounded by the mental image of me giving a turkey the "henduck" suppository I burst into laughter. I was wondering how to cook a "Turducken" so I naturally turned to the centralized master of knowledge, Google. So here is when it gets rolling into mindless laughter... I click on images and click on a big "Turducken" cross section. As I am allowing my team to check this out for their viewing pleasure, I notice something. The website name. The website is MuffSlap! Bwahahaa! I started laughing immediately, because, well, naturally I am a wee bit immature and find the mental image of a "MuffSlap" rather entertaining. Say that word with a straight face. And if that wasn't enough.... The tagline... "If you can't tap it, SLAP it." So I am trying to wane the tearing effects of the "Turducken" / MuffSlap combo when this is dropped off at my desk... I lost my ability to control myself after this... It turned into :cryin:. Everyone around me got a copy so I heard a giggle or two, then bursting out in laughter, then everyone was laughing so hard we were crying. It was hilarious to say the least.... obviously our VP didn't think so.
I had a local butcher assemble one of these for me a couple of years ago, and I cooked it for my immediate family during Thanksgiving. It was very tasty. All of the bones are completely removed, so basically it's one huge ball of meat. Some turkeys can end up sort of dry and the addition of the duck compensates for this shortage. It turned out very nice, especially the part about getting someone else to do the assembly work.:cornut:
These are highly regarded here in food-obsessed south Louisiana. We had our first last Thanksgiving. As far as I'm concerned, it beats turkey hands down, but they are pricey.
Yeah.... of the 3, it was the duck that put up the biggest fight. Made a heck of a racket in the butcher shop.
If I was better at Photoshop I'd love to make a pic of an automobile "turducken" Maybe a Mini, stuffed into an Escalade, stuffed into a Hummer...
