The Austrian newspaper Kleine Zeitung reported today that Magna Steyr, which manufactures the Countryman has won a contract to build a two door "sports activity coupe"

In an interview with BMW development head Klaus Draeger has said "Yes, we will have the Paceman built in Graz too. As the auto is technically based on the Countryman it makes sense to go to Graz for this as well."

Product is set to start in late 2012 as a 2013 model. Output levels have not been confirmed but are expected to be in the range of 20,000 annually.

At the Paceman launch at the Detroit Auto Show, BMW Board member Ian Robertson said the Paceman will find an audience among buyers looking for 4WD but would rather have a sport coupe.
