Tonight's Top Gear USA had a segment with Foust driving a stock Paceman S in a real rally, on bone stock tires he finished 5th out of 30.

Not too bad considering no mods.

    Yeah....
He hated it till the DSC failed....
Then he decided it was great!!
Kinds funny to hear the first 2 minutes of intro, talking about soccer moms and hipsters....how the car is too tech heavy.... Then the tech fails....and he loves it.....

I just watched this one and was wondering a few things.
Does the Paceman not have the switch to turn the dsc off? How did he "brake it"? If the computer failed I would think the car would go into limp mode.

By law all new cars have to have dsc and abs. Nanny state at work.

nah it wont go into limp mode...it will throw the traction control light and state the sucker is broke and take it into a MINI dealer...chances are he hit a massive rut or bump and it blew out the control box...and im sure he either didnt know or wasnt told he can turn it off

you can tell after it was "broken" he was really able to hang the tail out...i know when i test drove the JCW Paceman if you turn the DSC off and turn sport mode on the sucker will wag its tail...you can feel that you can probably do some lift off oversteer and some drifting...but i will say that All4 system is a pretty intelligent AWD and under it all you can see that it truly is the BMW X-Drive just with a different name

I caught the tail end of that piece. He caught some air and came down hard. He or the navigator said something like "Sounded like something broke off there" and then he noticed that all of the electronic nannys had stopped working and he could throw the tail around as he wanted to. You could see warning lights on the gauges.

I'd bet he broke off some sensors.

Don't think that Paceman will be resold. He did talk highly about the MINI after the run.
