This really makes me wish I was closer...or had an excuse to visit Atlanta this weekend. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6p19edq7FyU]ALMS 2011 - Petit Le Mans Testing - YouTube[/ame] Among other things, it will also be Audi's North American debut of their R18.
I'll settle for the live streaming via ESPN3: Live quali stream Fri, 30 Sep, 2:55 - 4:10PM EDT Live race stream Sat, 1 Oct, 11:15AM - 9:45PM EDT FWIW, there's also a sort of race recap 2-hour broadcast on ABC Sun, 2 Oct, 4 - 6PM EDT
Spotter Guides available for download here. However, keep in mind there is apparently some confusion and potential change to come:
The live coverage is streaming online at ESPN3. ABC will have a 2 hour packaged highlights show on broadcast TV. I really really really think this has been a FAIL move by ALMS. I want to watch it all but I can't carve out the time during the online broadcast. I can't record the online broadcast like I could if it was on TV for later viewing. They need to fix this!
Apparently NASCAR tried to buy them out. They said no. NASCAR said, "No TV for you." That's a good thing. The *last* thing we need for ALMS is Daytona Prototypes. I've not watched Daytona since they started that farcical conglomeration of butt-ugly joke cars.
HAHAHA! I carded you two with GA MINIAC cards... Too funny! :biggrin5: GREAT day for racing. Man it was gorgeous out there... EXCELLENT racing as well.
Never could get to like the looks of those NASCAR road racing prototypes. Even with a shop tour of the Gainsco facility I was left with the impression those racers were beat with an ugly stick. Supposedly the 2012 versions will look better. Now if someone can beat Pruitt.
I don't mind those NASCRARP in drag cars. They make sweet noises & the racing is good. I like ALMS too, but mostly I like the GT classes.
Small rant here.... Please don't compress a 10 hour race into 2 hours. I really enjoy DVR technology and employ if more often than watching live. Please dont' force my hand to watching streaming.... not broadcaster can keep up with RoadRunner speed. haven't found one yet. The race, what ABC decided was worthy to show, was pretty good until the Peugot forced Audi off the track... to bad. I only hope ALMS has a different broadcast package next year....
