I'm considering making the step from my OEM LSD to a Quaife or the SVT Focus Torsen while I'm replacing the failed trans in my 06 R53 (151,000 mile daily driver that competes in STX class SCCA autox). Not interested in the more expensive options at this point.

From some internet research (therefore must be true  ), some sources state that the Torsen T2 for the SVT Focus functions IDENTICAL to the Quaife. Other sources state that although they are both torque sensing type LSD's, the Quaife has some level of pre-load in case you lift a wheel AND/OR that it has a more aggressive torque bias.

Can anyone here confirm these differences between the two?

    Thanks,

    Jason

I have heard that the ford one is more likely to behave like an open diff as opposed to the quaife. I eventually plan on going with the quaife from a price point its not that much more than the ford part.

Actually the Quaife is the one that will spin a tire on ice. And last tme I checked the Ford unit was around $700 and the Quaife was still about $1200.

Nice......looks like the Quaife is now around $1000 at most vendors.

Thanks for the input everyone. I ended up going with a Quaife. Looks like I paid too much ($982 shipped), but ordered yesterday evening, received it today. Just waiting on my transmission to be delivered so I can get this thing back together!

Both units Are torsen style. So on I they will both act the same as an open trick is a little brake pressure will lock either up to pull your self off the ice.
