Part of I-70 changing to 55 mph | The Columbus Dispatch This story makes me very mad. ODOT is so full of crap it is amazing they are not in the sewage business. If you drove I70 east from downtown to the outter belt you would have noticed that going into the curve before Livingston there was a huge hump. The hump caused the trucker's loads to shift and then their trailer came around and they ended up going through a gardrail down a hill and into a guys backyard. The issues was never speed or the guardrail it was the hump. This spring they added a concrete barier to take the place of the guardrail AND they fixed the hump. Since then not a single truck has crashed. When you look around central Ohio you will find many of these humps (315 south to 670 east is a good example as is 270 south to 70 east on the west side of town) ODOT should fix these issues as they are very dangerous to people who are not familiar with them.
The answer to the humps, is simply buy a Countryman. Just watch the clips of the MINI WRC team practicing in Finland. Problem solved. Jim
FWIW...the four to five humps on the exit ramp south from I-270 to Ste Rte 161 (the ramp that some of us take to go to our monthly Donut Munch) causes me to have to slow down to 50-60 mph instead of being able to take the long sweeping turn at 85-90 mph like I should in my JCW :biggrin5::cryin::devil:
I definitely noticed those humps last weekend. :eek6: Looked like a nice long sweeper, and was passing a pokey, so punched it and... WHOA!
