Setting up an '06 Cooper S JCW for the track. I've never done heel-toe, so trying to practice. I am finding out it is nearly impossible for me with the OEM pedal setup. I took some measurements between this and two others and the measurements bear out my trouble. See the table image Pedals.png Compared to the '15 Mini Coupe the pedal set up is very different. The '06 has clutch and brake almost perfectly aligned while the Coupe has the brake offset toward the gas pedal in both directions (over and down). Here is a perspective view of each: Pedals-photos.png. I will have to make some changes. I bought a new brake pedal (fairly cheap so I figured why not) and might cut and reweld it and/or get the rennsline pedal kit. Any thoughts?
Thats interesting. Before you do it maybe find what the measurements are on Gen2 mini. You could buy a set of Rennline pedals. They are made to make it easer to heel-toe shifting. https://www.outmotoring.com/mini-cooper_rennline_pedal_set-rubber-grips-stainless-steel-hardware-clutch-gas-break-dead-pedal-throttle-lifter-plates-silver-or-black-automatic-or-manual-transmission.html here is a picture of them on my R58
Practice before spending any more money or modifying. Been driving and doing track days for years with oem setup and have no problems with heel-toe. Add some grippier surface to the pedals. That will help also.
I have feet like a Sasquatch so I can just "ball of foot/outside of foot" about every car I've driven.
I spent a lot of time practicing with little success, having small feet didn’t help the situation. The Rennline pedals were the ticket for me. This is my GP setup. Compare pedal positions between the R53 and R58, quite a difference between the two. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
