Hello I am new to r53 where I just bought a used r53 with 30,000km mileage. The problem is I found it very difficult to start. Brought it to a workshop and the mechanic scanned it and found out that my car has these problems: P0420 Catalytic Converter (Efficiency Below Threshold Bank1), P1627 (Alternator Load Sensor Input High), P0201 (Fuel Injector, Cylinder 1 Malfunction). What should I do? Should I replaced all the said parts? Thanks.

Where are you located? We could then recommend one of the many quality Mini mechanics who could help you. Sometimes Mini codes can be confusing. It even took my dealer 3 unnecessary repairs and 2 free tows before they figured out a bad MAP sensor.

I'm from Brunei Darussalam and here in Brunei we don't have any authorised dealer for Mini and most of the mini here are imported from the neighboring countries. and we don't have the expertise here in Brunei to help and check Mini's problems.

You are the new owner of a previously driven MINI? First have all the codes cleared and start fresh! Then come back and post if any codes are ECU held. It is easier to start of with a new starting point of reference. If there is truly an issue then some or all the codes will report themselves.

I recommend checking your fuse box for any blown fuses and get back to us...
Did you recently change out the header?

No I haven't make any mod yet. It is fitted with a front cucso carbon fibre strut bar and a BMC CDA air filter. Other than that i don't see the previous owner made any changes to it. Brought it to three different workshops today. One scanned it with a Launcher scanner and only the Alternator sensor load input high came out. One checked it manually and checked both alternator and battery and found both are healthy. One checked the alternator and found it still healthy and suggested that I should changed the battery. So i'm in doubt what is the real problem is.

Anymore details here? does it start but only after several attempts, never starts, starts but idles/runs like crap? Did you check the battery voltage? Mini's hate, hate, hate a "bad" battery voltage. Checking fuses is a brilliant idea too.
