Saw this over on MU and hope it's OK to post here Nathan?

Apparently (maybe) some of the R56 S that have had the "Cold Start" issue addressed are finding the bolt that holds the hydraulic oil "Chain Tensioner" is walking out of the threaded hole in the head, causing massive oil leaks.

It may be isolated to one area of the country, which leads one to believe it might be due to the dealership doing the repair???? Maybe wrong torque or lack of threadlocker??

Hey MINI........ Oil gauge would sure be nice???

    Be aware........

Other than checking to see if you have oil leaking on your garage floor, what other methods are there to check for this?

Couldn't tell from the thread if the cases brought in with the wreckers if they were caught in time or if the engine seized up for lack of oil.

I believe there's an oil pressure switch on the R56 engine. When the indicator comes on, I'd suggest shutting off the engine as soon as it's safe to do so.:cryin:

Jim- Just buy a 15% pulley & stick in the glove box. Tubos are only good for cooking roadkill on the engine. Although it does make it taste like French food.
