I’ve searched but not found and answer on the forum. Yesterday I had oil changed, because it was close, and inspection performed, because it was passed due, at a local independent garage that specializes in Euro cars including MINIs. Guy told me he reset the service indicators before I left (because I asked him specifically to make sure that could be done). Was in a hurry to leave the shop and didn’t actually pay attention to the service light when I fired it up. Last night after running errands, restarted the car and noticed the yellow service indicator at startup, scrolled through the service menu, and oil service reads 460 miles 11/2020. So obviously, the garage did not reset that. So, with no special scan tools or apps, is it possible for me to reset the oil service interval? Or will I need to take it bake to the shop to have them do it? I’ve search my owners manual, this forum, and NAM but have found no answers. I know some of you change your own oil. What do you do?
I saw a 55 second video on you tube that shows how to reset the oil service indicator but unfortunately I’m totally inept at linking stuff. Good to see that MCS02 was able to help you out.
Thank You MCS02. I will try that after work. Last night when I tried just putting the fob in the slot but not starting the car, nothing came up in the display until I actually started the car. Will follow the instructions you posted. Someone just posted a video on my inquiry in the NAM forum. hopefully I can post a link to that here. https://www.northamericanmotoring.com/forums/r60-countryman-talk-2010-2015/350960-r60-oil-service-light-reset.html
Lee's a very helpful guy. I was justa about to start asking google the question. On youtube at the bottom of the video you'll see a thing that says share. Click it & then click the word COPY. Bam now paste that into the post.
Just went out to my car at lunch and reset the oil service interval. The part I was missing was to press the start button without the clutch held in, so as not to start the car. Thanks All!
