In the years before Tony George tried to kill open wheel racing, we used to camp in a parking lot on 16th St. the night before. It was a mile-long street party, all night. Saw some seriously crazy stuff. I wonder if it's anything like that these days?
Not sure, we leave STL at 5:30 am, get home about 8:30 pm. 500 miles for us to watch 33 others try and race for 500 miles. We go for the race, not the party Mark
Looks like a lot of fun... I hope to catch the 500 some year, but I want to really plan it well and have a full, well-organized itinerary - no sense in flying all the way from CA to sit in bumper-to-bumper traffic all weekend.
Glad you had a great day. We haven't been to the Speedway in years, but hope to make it to the Indy 500 in the next couple of years.
Nothing like watching a tight group go down the front stretch at 230+ Get parking with your ticket, and get there early race day, and don't plan on leaving till late the next day. Race day is a series of BIG spectacles:cornut: Lois and I want to see some time trial days soon. Mark
We have family who live just north of Indy so we've been to practice days and the final practice before first round qualifying, and carb day. We recommend going to those days. We've never been to the 500 but plan on fixing that-hopefully next year. We were given tickets to the Brickyard 400 one year, though.
