how do i get my hands on a jcw gp spoiler they look so sweet

  2. make one! lol. custom babyyy
but i honestly have no idea where else you'd be able to get one of those,
but you can always try the dealer

rarely do the GP owners sell their own spoiler.

Best bet would be to buy one from a totaled GP owner. Dealer requires vin number and pic of damaged GP item, plus its over $3,000 for rear wing assembly.

Yup. And new glass to mount the spoiler. Pretty much everyone wants one. Not every one can afford one and no one can get one. Best bet is definitely a custom wing.

Remember there are a few little things that also need to be changed if you really want to add a GP wing. The rear window glass is different. The glass is cut where the wing attaches and the high mounted (third) brake light is moved to the bottom of the rear window. The plastic piece is added to cover the original third brake light location.

You might get away with leaving the third brake light in the orignal location (but it will be partially blocked by the wing) but the rear window glass will have to be cut.

Can't cut the glass, it is tempered, will shatter into a gazillion bits all held together with the safety lamination. Obtaining the glass is easy anyway, and it's inexpensive in the grand scheme of things. Those 3 bits that make up the wing and supports are the killers price wise.

  8. so even getting a gp spoiler is nearly impossible unless you can just burn approx $3k or more juts for the brake light re-configuration, the new glass, and the spoiler itself. best bet is to just make a custom spoiler similar to the gp, or just make yourself an entirely new one that no one has never seen before.

how many gp's were made again?

I know several GP owners and could drive one if I wanted. They're not THAT rare. And they're on the market frequently. They can be had if it's really what you want.

  12. i dont know much about the GP, other than the name and the fact that it has a speedometer that goes up to 240mph with black and gray interior.
but other than that, what makes he GP so special? or what sets it apart from your normal R53?

I will be making a custom wing for my racecar. It will be similar to the gp wing, but optimized for the rules under which I will compete. It will be 3" above the roofline, as per allowances for hatch-backs. It may end up looking a bit "ricey", but it will be more effective. Pics to follow in a few months.

mine will be similar to the gp wing. DM53, or Paulo, (not sure of his screen name on this forum), had his co-driver, an aero engineer, design his wing. I will do something similar w/out the CFD. Rules have also changed.

Then there's the vaguely similar M7 Wing. I don't like it much, kinda pricey also.
