Join MINI USA and MINIACs from all over the country as we attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the largest parade of cars as we cross the Mackinac Bridge in northern Michigan! We did surprisingly well in 2013 with very little notice so this year it should be a piece of cake! Aug 1st is the date!!! WE CAN DO THIS!!!! Click on the link for more info and registration. I was up there last summer - spent a night on the island - beautiful :D. I would come back for this event, but about 1400 miles each way. Highly recommend.

Does anybody know, what does registering for this event get you? Honestly, I'd rather spend the $45 or whatever it costs on another tank of gas so I can you know, "motor on." Serious question.

Registration for 1 person is only $25.

    With that you get:

Coffee and snacks in the staging area
Lunch provided by the Mackinac Grill
Admission to the St. Ignace Bayside Music Festival
One way toll paid for the bridge

    Additional passengers are $25, 12 and Under - $15

    Tee-Shirts are 20 bucks too.

It gets you into the record setting parade across the Mack with 1451 or more of your MINI friends - priceless!

I have just returned from a 4 day trip to Mackinaw City, and the island.

The bridge was down to one lane in either direction (sandblast/repaint of the structure). Cost us $4 each way to cross the bridge.

Mackinac Island is well worth a visit. Beautiful island. It cost us $18 round trip, per person, on the Arnold Line ferry. Had a great meal at Goodfellow's on the island. The food was very good, with excellent service. Bill came to just over $103 for 5 meals, which I didn't think was too bad considering everything is ferried over from the mainland. Much better than the Dixie Saloon in Mackinaw City. Overpriced for the quality/quantity of the food, and the service.

We ate dinner at Nonna Lisa's Italian restaurant one evening. Food was good, with good sized portions, and cost $86 for 4 of us. One morning, we had breakfast at Anna's Homestyle Kitchen. That was a mistake. Overpriced for totally forgettable food.

I'm registered! I'll be using MINIMol's Alfie to do the run. She was super kind and wanted to see her MINI take part but was unable to make it there herself. So, look out for me in the "number Pi" Electric blue '05 MCS. :)

It make one wonder how many people will try to blow off the registration and just show up at the staging area on Saturday morning. It's not likely they'd be turned away, but those folks obviously won't be included in the pre-count and maybe not even in the official count. I'm guessing those arriving without a badge will be shaken down upon arrival at least for the bridge toll.

I confess to this behavior at MMEMW when my only intention was a small portion (half-day) of the full event to view the classic Minis in the car show and do the group photo, but I'm fully paid up for the Mack. The complexity of the logistics based on observations from two years ago is not trivial and warrants the support of the participants.

Do the right thing. Register and enjoy.

I registered both cars yesterday. Still not clear what that $50 is for. I'm not doing any of the MINI activities other than just driving across the bridge. Then heading out to the island for the day. Oh well. Wanted my cars to count toward the record. Didn't register my passengers.

The Registration is for the bridge toll fee, festival after the parade including food and music performances.
