Trying to take the "dogbone" motor mount off my R53 and those bolts will not budge at all with just elbow grease alone. I dont want to strip them either, I have heard of applying heat can do the trick and wondering if a heat gun will do it or an actual torch or what? Was going to try a heat gun and then my air impact wrench later.

Only torch will get hot enough.

I'd go with lots penetrating fluid, let it sit then try loosing/tightening till it starts to move.

Tell us what wrench you are using? 1/2 inch drive breaker bar won't break them loose? Add a pipe to the breaker bar for more leverage. Soak the bolt with Kroil. That stuff really does work. A torch will help. Heat & let cool a few times.

    Exactly what Jim said....
Especially the back and forth after setting with the penetrating oil... This will loosen up the corrosion without jam packing and wedging the threads tight... If not you run the risk of snapping or stripping the bolt.
Torch will just cause you to start burning the paint.

Is this the mount that's attached to the oil pam?

I agree, don't use force get a bigger breaker bar! :biggrin5:

If it's the bolt I'm thinking of, just use your impact, it'll come right out and you won't hurt it.

Heat gun and propane torch will not do squat, you need oxy/acetylene......but I doubt you need to go that route.

Pour some Coke on it. The acid in it will eat the rust and other junk.
