Many servicemen who are currently serving or have served in the military have suffered loss or hardships that have greatly affected them and their families.

In support of the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund (IFHF), a not-for-profit organization that has provided more than $120 million in support for the families of military personnel who were lost in service, and for severely wounded military personnel and veterans - a group of more then 160 drivers – including navigators, and support crew will travel on a three-day road rally across the country.

“We’re traveling about 1,900 miles in three days,†said Dale Clough, of Lancaster. “This is the second year that we have done this and it’s working out great.â€

Clough and his wife, Lindsay, will be participating in the drive along with a mass group of drivers from all over the country.

CJ’s Pony Parts Rally Appalachia will travel to Winchester, VA on July 17 where they will prepare to embark on a three-day adventure. The team will begin their drive the morning of Monday, July 18. They will stop in Natural Bridge, VA, Greenville, SC, and from there the group will venture toward their final destination, Charleston, SC, where they will arrive three days later.

During their trip – the team will be expected to stop at checkpoints, take digital photographs of them selves to ensure they reached their destinations, take a lap around the Shenandoah Speedway, in Virginia; the Darlington Raceway, in South Carolina; and have the opportunity to meet Cale Yarborough from NASCAR. Yarborough has also agreed to make a donation toward the IFHF.

“Depending on how committed an individual is to the cause, they can donate as much as they want. The rally is judged by spirit, hard luck, and you can come in costume, too,†said Clough. “We have a new rule this year – if you speed, you will be disqualified.â€

Originally created by Scott Spielman and Tony Intieri, the road rally is intended to aid a different charity each year and raise as much funds as possible while still having fun.

The group of 80 cars, covered in decals, will travel along side each other as they head toward the finish line. The cost of gas, food, and hotel stay is the requirement of the drivers, however, each day that the drivers stop for dinner – the selected restaurants have agreed to not only comp the cost of the meals, but also match the money spent and donate it to the IFHF.

To cheer on the drivers from home visit Home | Klutch22 | Konnect your ride to the world to view live tracking of the team as the try to beat the clock. With the use of smart phones and mini cameras that have been placed inside the vehicles, home viewers can take a peak at the live action.

Any individual who may be interested in donating toward the cause can visit the IFHF Web site at www.fallenhereosfund.org and donate through a Pay Pal account. To learn more about the road rally, visit Welcome to Rally North America.
