August 17 marks the changeover from Speed to FoxSports 1. I am saddened by this and annoyed with FOX. The long slow death of my favorite channel started when they bought an interest back in 2001. When Fox took over completely they pretty much ruined it but there were some glimmers of past greatness. Breaking Le Mans coverage for Sprint Car Qualifying was pretty much the last nail in the coffin for me. I don't think I've watched it since. I'm going to miss Dave Dispain and Wind Tunnel the most. There are some pretty darn good eulogies running around the net. Some I've liked.... Did not watch TV much, only caught speed off and on, I really do not like (hate) FOX news in any form! So, guess I will not get any great racing coverage on TV, I will have to see what I can see via the net, maybe ABC and NBC will wake up. Sad very Sad! :frown2:
Oh snap... No more constant NASCAR coverage... What am I going to do with my weekends now? I say good riddance! They haven't had a good show on that channel since... Well EVER!
I cannot express my disappointment, nor use the kind of language here that I would like to, as I have just flipped to my favorite channel, which is Speed and find UFC Fight Night...... $&%$&$&&@&#&$$?@?*$&%$&*!*@##*$$$&#*#&#*$*$?@?@#*$***$%&$:banghead:
It seems like SPEED has been gone for a while though (at least the SPEED that I knew and loved). I lost interest when they wound down their coverage of WRC, and then they transitioned to a largely NASCAR-centric format which is OK but not my cup of tea.
FOX ruins everything they touch...How much NASCAR coverage do you seriously need? I too lost interest in the channel once they became NascarTV
Not only does it suck completely, but it also costs - at least those of us on Time Warner. Since Fox split Speed into FS1 and FS2....I get FS1 but to get FS2, which shows the live broadcasts instead of delayed, you have to ante up for yet another expensive premium package! So the only way I can watch our local Rolex Grand Am is to wait a day, or a week depending on what whim they follow. (or spend $60 each for race tix, of course ) Way to build excitement, Fox. And Time Warner......you guys suck so much that I cannot wait till Google Fiber hits my 'hood, I will throw you out so fast and so far.......
So I watched the Rolex race this afternoon from Kansas. Good coverage on FS1 but far too many commercials..... At least I got my fix. Not what I've been used to but I'll take it.
I agree with Cam. I started winding down the WRC coverage. Now I just watch BBC American for top gear. But it's a shame. And like fix will be able to do sports better than espn.
Velocity for me is part of 4 channel premium package, The other 3 I have no interest in and I'm not paying an extra 10 a month for just one channel.
