Jan is coming back to Texas, but first time in Austin! The last RMW tune in Texas was October '08 in Dallas, so our local opportunities are rare.

All day Friday and Saturday October 16/17, we also might be able to spill over to Sunday if we need to. We presently have 1 slot on Friday and 3 slots on Saturday available, also inform if you want a Sunday slot as this might be possible. As we fill up, I will take some names for standby/waiting_list in case someone drops out or we get ahead of schedule. Lunch is provided both days, something simple like pizza.

    Preliminary Costs:
1st Gen Cooper and S, 2nd Gen Cooper: $400 for the tune + Dyno time at $115hr
    2nd Gen S: $650 for the tune + Dyno time at $115hr
    Retunes: $75 + Dyno time at $115hr
Also, dyno time will be billed in 15 min increments.

We will be at a shop in the SW Austin area.

They specialize in Jaguar Restoration and Performance Parts.
They are a very large shop that does it all.

I will update this post as the cost finalizes, with sign up slots details, etc. I will need a deposit to lock-in your slot, but more on that as we get closer.

    About RMW
RMW is the tuning choice for the top racers in the USA. This year marks the first ever National Championship on the Road for MINI. RMW also brought home a 2nd place and two 3rd place finishes at the NASA Nationals. RMW is the only MINI tuner to ever do this. RMW also tunes the only Professionally raced MINI's in Grand Am. These MINIs have gone on to set numerous new track records for MINI's around the country and also run RMW built engines. RMW is the racer's choice!

Same question as that other place. What if it is a retune?

If you are asking about cost. The cost for a retune is much less as it will include the dyno time and little if any tune fee.

    Pre-Tune checklist
Adding some compiled info from a few different sources on what we need to do to get ready for a custom tune on a dyno, including what Jan recommends.

    1. Over half the hole showing in the tensioner for an R53. If you have less than this get the NAPA Belt# 060535 belt for all reduced pulley applications. 15%, 17% and 19%
    2. New plugs if yours are more than 10K miles old, Jan may bring some plugs for us to purchase on the spot. I believe he recommends Brisk plugs and has a few diff models based on the car and any mods.
    3. 93 octane gas if you are local to Austin, Chevron/Shell is usually the best
    4. make sure your boots on intercooler are not worn/torn/old. Don't waste boost, and engine performance on a leak.
    5. Make sure you have no check engine lights, review any specific issues with Jan
    6. make sure your exhaust is NOT leaking
    7. Clean air filter
    8. Enough oil and coolant, may also want to ensure your oil is relatively fresh, < 3K miles.
    9. Non slipping clutch
    10. For R53, 380cc injectors if 19% or 15/3% or 15/2 or 17/2 etc
If you plan on running your car on the track it's always better to have 380cc injectors over the stockers

I think you are ok with that CEL, Jan can clear that code, but it will come back with no cat or O2 simulator.

Ok, I have you down for a Saturday slot.

Also, if you are still thinking about that 15% SC pulley, do it before the tune.

Alright awesome, I got the pulley and it is installed. All i need is my boost gauge to be installed and then i am gold.

oh just out of curiosity how much will my fuel consumption go up? right now i am at about 25 avg with all my mods.

    With a good tune...

fuel consumption usually goes down, not up, as the car isn't running as rich all the time. Of course, if your foot goes down more, your mileage may vary! ;)

No, I haven't been back since the TDE event in the spring. After we get the house up to snuff, I may call and enquire about a membership.

I'll be at TWS the 3rd & 4th and ECR on the 24th of October.

Ok, I have nailed down the shop and so we have final dyno pricing!

The dyno cost will be $115/hr, much better than the $150 I had listed initially.
I will make the edit to the OP, cheaper is better!

As far as the schedule, I am planning for 1.5hrs of dyno time per car, this is a good average, with a likely min and max of 1hr, and 2hrs respectively.
