I was thinking I would like to either paint the roof with a contrasting color, or possibly add a roof graphic, I'm having a difficult time coming up with something I think would go with this body color, interior combination and wheel choice. So I thought I'd put it out to the assembled brain trust here to see what we could come up with. I'm open to any idea, but please don't be put off if I don't use any one in particular......I'm just looking for ideas at this point. I'd really like the idea of a contrasting color, but can't think of any that would look good and that I'd like. I've been thru the primary colors, thought about a British flag motif in various combinations....nothing's jelled yet, so......let's see what you've got! Or should I just leave it be?
I like it the way it is: Classic. But if "You" want to change it how about the color of you rims or stripes. A gold top would look cool and be different.
Nice classic! That is a pretty hard question, it looks good as is but if you want something on the roof I would have to jump on Dave.O's suggestion, the gold roof would still keep that classic look and not go overboard. If it didn't already have the stripes I would lean towards painting the wheel arches the same, but I think a gold roof would make a nice touch. Good luck on your decision, its going to be a hard one.
I agree on the gold roof. If I remember correctly it had a gold luggage rack when you first got it. I thought that contrast looked good, but definitely like the looks of Buzz with out the rack.
I too agree with the above suggestions.. Could do the roof in gold and have something cut out of it to let the body color show thru.. From most views it'd look like a gold roof till you can see from above and there is a Union Jack, Cooper Crest, or whatever floats your boat..
Either leave it be or contrast the roof with the same color as the stripes. I like that it's not metallic like the wheels are. Any other color will look odd. Remove the stripes & you open up your color pallet. The wheels can be painted to match the roof color of your choice. Nice Mini!!!
I've yet to see a gold accented car that I liked, even black and gold, but that's just my unsolicited opinion, it just looks to gaudy. I would love to see a photoshop of how it would look with a red roof--I think it'd look great, and be unique without being overpowering. I'd lose the gold stripe either totally or replace it with a red one. The rim spokes could be resprayed black (or red if but that might be too much).
I thought of gold too, but I thought it would be too much, I'm surprised to see several of you think it would look good that way..... Imagine either of those black cars with a gold painted roof....... I also like the idea of a darker red on top, but I wasn't sure if that would go Ok or not with the other trim.....or the interior. What about roof graphics? Dragon? flag motif? something else maybe? As to the why question.....I had the car up on the lift one day and my wife opened the garage door, not realizing Buzz was way up in the air, the bracket on the opener hit the roof and damaged it - so I'm going to have to have it painted anyway (unless I can cover it with a graphic of some sort.) as I doubt they'll be able to match the paint anyway, I thought a color change might be worthwhile. I appreciate all the ideas/comments!
Never did it for me, always thought that huge gold bird were for those that were compensating for something... I get it though--lots of people loved that car, it just never registered with me.
A Gold roof would look like you are a huge Notre Dame fan if you are one. You could always add a clover to break it up. (Just an idea) I like the classic color so maybe you could change the color of the stripes and match it to a roof color of your choice.
Off topic a touch but speaking of the Bandit it is on TV right now. If your trying to stay low key either leave it alone or go gold. Just my opinion here but don't think red will go with the current color theme. But hey it's your car, try whatever you like in vinyl and you can always just peel it off. Heck they make car spray kits of Plasti-dip now with every color in the rainbow available.
I think a darker red would work, but the vinyl is a great idea if it doesn't. I'd love to see this car in a true white with a bright red roof, that would be a very clean look.
If you removed the side strips, I think a dark green would possible work as well. Not sure how it would look with the wheels though.
