LAKEVILLE, Conn.—Just two weeks after a great race at Virginia International Raceway, RSR Motorsports returns to GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge action. This time, the four-car MINI Cooper S team will take on the ST class at Lime Rock Park. Virginia marked an unprecedented weekend for Ron Farmer and Jason Hart in the No. 196 US LED MINI Cooper S. The pair, in only their fourth race with RSR Motorsports, earned a hard-fought sixth-place finish. “I think we can do great at Lime Rock, but we’ll have to be somewhat conservative because there is no forgiveness there,†says Farmer, who will be making his racing debut at the Connecticut track. “Qualifying will be more important than ever before.†Hart is also new to Lime Rock, but he caught on quickly to the 1.5-mile course during a recent test. “Lime Rock is a lot of fun being a shorter track. You have more opportunities to perfect each turn,†he says. “It has also proven to be a very strong track for the MINIs.†While racing at Lime Rock will be new for Farmer and Hart, other RSR drivers have something else that’s new: different co-drivers for the weekend. Veteran racer Matt Plumb is stepping into the No. 195 RSR Motorsports MINI to co-drive with Dicky Riegel. Plumb is a sports car racing veteran, and the separate ST and GS races allow him to do double duty. Meanwhile, RSR Motorsports team owner Randall Smalley is teaming up with Chris Puskar, who is joining the team this weekend as co-driver of the No. 197 MINI. Puskar is the team’s Carbotech Performance Brakes supplier, so he has a long association with RSR Motorsports. He also has a long history of success at Lime Rock Park. Owen Trinkler and Sarah Cattaneo propelled the No. 198 RSR Motorsports MINI Cooper S into second in team points thanks to their seventh-place finish in Virginia. This weekend, they hope to keep that momentum going. Cattaneo qualified fifth at Lime Rock last year. “Owen and I are both good at Lime Rock, and the MINIs are just perfect right now,†says Cattaneo. “All the fine-tuning the crew has done has made a big difference, and the car is spot-on. The guys have worked so hard to get us to this point.†RSR Motorsports, along with sponsors Cruise America, Thor Motor Coach, US LED and Pilot/Flying J Travel Centers, will carry their positive momentum into the 2.5-hour ST race on Saturday, May 28. The race gets underway at 10:30 a.m. ET. Keep up with the team online at RSR Motorsport / RSR Racing. RSR Motorsports is sponsored by Cruise America, Thor Motor Coach, US LED, MINI USA, Pilot/Flying J Travel Centers, Performance Friction Rotors, OS Giken Racing Clutches and Limited Slip Differentials, Midway Ford Truck Sales, Mini North Scottsdale, Performance Speed Tech, and Carbotech Pads.
Lime Rock just has to be one of the best tracks for the MINIs, not to mention is hella fun to drive! Will they televise this one?
Unfortunately, the TBA on the calendar probably means Speed won't be there with cameras so no chance of broadcast. That's been the pattern to this point.
They show the Rolex race, but haven't taped or broadcast the Continental Tire race for several years now......:incazzato: Good luck RSR!
