I’ve tried a few search’s and to me I haven’t found what I’m looking for when doing them.. even when I know a specific article exist. Has anyone else tried using Search? Has it worked for you?

There is an option I have to purchase a more advanced search feature. But when reviewing the platform, the reviews/feedback was that search is good. However what I’m seeing is in Automotive we search on a lot of “common” things or where two few letters.. example R53. Doesn’t search well on those.

No search works. That’s why on MA we don’t tell people to do a search before asking a question.

A search for dirty mini or secret sauce produced good results but yeah a search for r58 resulted in a user profile and "r58" gave "The search could not be completed because the search keywords were too short, too long, or too common."

Yea you can’t search for three letters... elastic search fixes that but it’s both server changes and platform. Working on that. We need to be able to search for R and F codes.. glad you found the other things. Good feedback. :)

Appears there is a bug in the "Search" function. Essentially many times when you first do your search, it will come back with zero results. Then you do it again and it works. I'm researching this one.

Working on the search engine this weekend. I found a new "search" that is used by much larger sites. I've done the initial back end setup. Currently its indexing the site. Once that is done there is some additional configuration that needs to be completed. It essentially replaces the default search with a new search engine. Based on my research it should produce about 10X the results and be much faster. Hopefully this will be completed by the end of this weekend. Once its up and running on the site I will update this thread.

I do not share your optimism. I have never seen a search work well. Ok maybe Google, but they are evil. :D

OK - the new Search functionality should be up and running now.... give it a try and let me know if you see any issues. You should find the results to be MUCH better than before. Let me know... as always, feedback appreciated. :D
