Hey all! My 09 MCS Convertible needs to go in for service (I think) When I start the car the red service light comes on in the display with the car above it, and below that in the bottom display it says -1000, but this only stays on for a second or two then everything says it's normal. I do have a couple issues with the car... The speedometer is off by about 5-7 mph at around 60-70mph (Checked with GPS speed) I have sometimes a rough not steady idle but besides that the car is fine Does this mean I need service in a 1000 or so miles, or im overdue for the service? Thanks! Kyle
All is well, this is a automated notice. Your dead on, 1000 miles overdue for a scheduled maintenance. Your Service Tech will clear when you take it in (assuming your under warranty). If not and you want to clear yourself their are directions in the Library here on M/A
Thanks, I'll take it in, it's still under warranty... Not even 20,000 miles And what's the difference between British mph and US mph? Shouldn't it be the same?
The speedo issue is normal. BMW/MINI is notorious for having speedos that say you are going 60 when doing 56 or so.
Indeed. Also - Bummer. Now I have to figure out the delta and adjust my driving accordingly. :aureola:
Or you can use a Scan Gauge that lets you adjust the speed read out so it is correct. That is what I use and read the correct speed from it. Jim
Here ya go. It is call the Scan Gauge II. Bottom left of the page. Gauges - Way Motor Works (Page 2) Jim
No problem. If you look on that page or the next one back, you can get the Craven Speed Flex Mount, that will place the gauge right on top on the rev counter where you can see it with ease. That is where mine is mounted. Jim
:cornut: My speedo same same and I have Scan Gauge II. If the speed limit is 70mph, I set cruise on 74-75mph and the gendarmes don't even blink at me(my true speed 3mph under indicated). I keep my scan gauge on engine temp/intake air temp/voltage/manifold absolute pressure(and do the math in my head- +14.7psi+approx boost). I never thought about correcting the speedo to true speed. Can the speedo be adjusted or do others keep one of the Scan Gauge 'four corner values' on speedo all of the time? Just curious. Jason
On my Scan Gauge I keep RPM top left, corrected speed on bottom left, air intake temp on top right and water temp on bottom right. That way I can see all of them at a glance without having to look down, away from the road. Works well for me. Jim
