It's been a bit of a long process, but the project has finally come together. I've finished shaving the rear reflectors and finishing off the pillars in the wood accent. I've also shaved the side reflectors in the arches as well as the rear badging, slowly moving towards the cleaner look. The wood is a throwback to the classic mini woody estates where MINI designers pulled the unique contrasting c-pillars from. A nice retro flavoring in a new age design trait Photos from the process of woodgraining after the reflectors had been shaved. Golden undercoating so that it flips in color and matches the golden flake of the HC body paint.
Looks good! Always wanted to ask- Do you notice odd treadwear on your back tires with the angle they ride at?
Nah, I've been running "excessive" camber for 2 or 3 years now on MINIs without any ridiculous wear problems. They do wear a bit which is to be expected. Toe is a much larger culprit of eating tires than camber. It probably helps that I never keep wheels/tire for more than a year though:lol:
Wish I could afford to be such a wheel whore. What process did you use to get the actual wood-grain effect?
Rally, heck of job there. Yours and Flamez' have to be the best examples of tastefully modded Clubbies in the states.
Though I'm not a woodgrain fan, I'm definitely a fan of GREAT work and that is GREAT work. Great job!!!! Mark
