The day many of us have feared is here. For the first time that we know of a BMWCCA Chapter is banning all cars...The post Some New MINIs to be Banned from Track Days appeared first on MotoringFile. (visit MotoringFile for the full article) More...
LOL - its like the title of the article is supposed to make MINI owners outraged or something. Lets boycott the track, or better yet, lets stand out front with signs that say "MINI LIVES MATTER!"
I read it on Jalopnik first. I completely understand them not wanting cars with those nanny's on track. Not letting them on track even if the driver can shut them off kind of puzzles me. Being an old guy I remember when SCCA wouldn't let folks on track with an airbag. They got over that & this too will pass. A troubling thing is eventually we all will have those darned nanny's on our cars like it or not. Big brother will require them.
They didn't exclude Tesla with their autopilot... We be racin and texting on the track... from the back seat... See you on the winner's podium...
The track owners are the ones going to feel a hit, less cars = less revenue. I thought for SURE Dave would have said, "too bad, buy an R53" -- if you have enough time / money to buy a new BMW with all the assists, you likely can afford one.
If they all get banned.... Someone will just open a track for the banned cars... It's all about the money...
It is not going to cost the tracks a bit at this time. They rent the track out & if BMWCCA doesn't have enough cars to pay the rate then all the other cars will have to pay more. I don't think it is enough cars to make a difference at this point. In the future nanny world who knows?
