MINI USA announced on Twitter that some 2015 MINI Hardtops have been released to the dealerships. *If you were waiting for*a 2015 MINI Hardtop 2 Door, check with your Motoring Advisor*for the arrival date. More...
Ahh, released at last. Now then, hopefully someone here will be go and drive this car and let us all know what it's all about!
Wow... So much for being more efficient..... Wonder if it is now a more "realistic" test for 2015?! A 40/41 mpg cooper with a 3 cylinder turbo sounds kinda compelling if you can get past the looks...but when they drop it to 37....makes other cars with a 4 cylinder turbo sound better... Wonder if any us/anti German politics played a part in this....going back to the flap with the us listening in on the German chancellors phonecalls and the embrassemnt it caused by her going public with the info.... Stranger things have happened....
If that was the motivation, they'd do it to a more overtly German symbol, not a subsidiary that pretends to be British. The real reason this happened: Dave.0 is an EPA official.
MINI may be just the latest caught fudging their mileage numbers. If I recall Ford, Kia & Hyundia got caught doing that very thing.
 :lol:  I wonder how long the below post will last on MotoringFile? I 100% agree. My real Mini (non-BMW) gets about 47 miles per gallon... My other real Mini (non-BMW) gets about 45 miles per gallon. Why doesn't BMW bring back the real Mini.. Here is my suggestion.. bring back the real Mini, spell it Mini, not some silly way like MINI, offer it at one price, $ 10,000, no options, no radio, no online connection, no key fob, no power windows, no power locks, no turbo, no supercharger, no ugly black wheels, no version with a backwards baseball cap for a roof... make it with 10 inch wheels, 998 cc engine, center speedometer.
Well...if mini restates the mpg numbers for the 2014 cars, we will know they were caught....folks usually get a rebate too.... The fact the numbers for BOTH the s and non s changed (NON-S) even though the NON-S did not get a motor change like the S is interesting.... Conspiracy therosist I am not....but sometimes things make you wonder.... Would BMW/MINI knowingly bring a lower mpg car to market in this day and age?! Doubtful....
Funny how cars from 20+ years ago got better mpg.... Had a 1989 Honda CRX HF....would do an actual 50 mpg If driven nice....and still be fun as hell if driven hard...dropped it off at the junkyard about a week after I picked up the MINI....
My Buddy had a Honda CRX HF also and he never had to put gas or any work into that little thing. It just ran and ran and ran and ran and ran. Some guy tried to fail it for Emissions once because it did not have a CAT and the dealer had to tell him they did not come with one they were that good.
I had a 1981 Toyota Starlet with 1300cc's of throbbing gas mileage. It was so good on a long drive I'd have to stop & siphon off gas. Darned car made gas I tells ya! For an under powered little box it was a hoot to drive, especially on Southern Ohio forest roads. Rear drive & a very good hand brake = big giggles. I miss that little 4 wheeled friend.
