Hot on the heels of the Coupe debut, here we have a pre-production prototype of the MINI Roadster getting spied by WorldCarFans in Germany. No big surprises here, just a nice glimpse of the car-to-be. Having now seen the Coupe and how closely it kept to its concept car roots, we expect the production R59 to be pleasantly unsurprising. Head on over to WCF for their full gallery of spy shots.

Bet it weighs 60lbs more than the Coupe...If it were Miata like it'd be a demon with 208hp.

I'd guess it's lighter. The bracing is probably the same but with soft top and lack of moveable wing out back it just might pare a few pounds off the total. At least I think there is no wing back there...

I think I can see one.

That's a beautifully-shaped soft top, even if there's a pretty big blind spot.

It's generally my experience that the soft-tops are always heavier than thier hard-top/post counterparts. However, since the bracing is already in place on both models It will be interesting to see how things "weigh" out...:ihih:

This could very easily find itself sharing garage space with my 1990 Miata!

Yeah, I noticed that as well. Not much different than the Miata though.

Good thought, but I'm afraid she would want to drive. :cornut:
