I'm wondering if getting the stock cam reground is a good and cheap mod? I heard it will be something like around $100.. but I just don't have enough information about where to do it. Any ideas?

Also can anyone explain why thumper performance's tpr-3 is NOT recommended for street use? How much gain does one see as far as boost/hp/tq is concerned?

And what is a good camshaft? Shrickt cam?

If there is a thread that really explains how the camshaft and head helps the mini gain... please point me to that or inform me.

    Cams...

are not a one sized fits all proposition. You will not get a regrind for $100 any place I know of. Thumper will be happy to explain why he does what he does.

Really, to choose what is best for you, you need to describe how you actually use your car, not how you see yourself as using your car. By that I mean, think honestly about if it's a street car, a track car, a dedicated racer or whatever mix. Think about the RPM range you really use, and think about your budget.

I'm biased. I sell and distribute the NS cams. But there are lots of good cams out there. Explain more about how you really use your car and people will be able to provide information that is more targeted to your real use case.

WOW... I missed this one!! Sorry, if you pm or email I might be able to help out, by giving you some info on your MINI Performance options, yes??

    [email protected]

As stated above by ' the Doctor" ... not the Doctor with the blue police box, says.. the picking of parts really needs to be by the way that you drive and beat the car!! cool??

There are now a few 'Other Heads' and camshafts out there that allow the torque and HP values to be closer to where you drive the car...

The idea that BIGGER is better , isnt always the best for your application. This is why a few Vendors are ASKING Questions befor they sell some performance parts.. answer the questions as best you can.. and you will be happier with the end results VS the money spent to gain those results... cool??

Regrinding you camshaft is doable.. I am sure it wont be 'around $100.00' and there are limitations when it is done. The NS series camshafts offer a great selection for a street/ sometime track car. So the need to regrind is pretty mute at this point.. yes??

    Have fun..

There are NO good lowend cams out there.. MOST of the aftermarket cams are for higher mid and topend. The NS1 cams were designed just for that reason... there was nothing out there!

The NS1 builds power thru the entire rpm range.. ( 6800revs+) and is a great cam for the r50's and the mild mod r53's. ( Of course all the engines will see a power gain when a camshaft is added.)

What you said you want.. it is the NS1 Camshaft.
