So, you know that ding-ding-ding the car does when you first put the key in the ignition. Well for a few weeks now it just randomly refuses to ding-ding-ding. Starts fine, battery is new and fully charged. Odd thing that seems to happen with it is the airbag light seems to stay on longer after starting the car. Have not had any problems starting the car or while running.

    Any guess's?

Actually no, I don't know it. I've never had a ding sound when I put the key in the ignition (I have a 2006 R52). Is it the same sound as when the drivers door is open with the key still in?

As for the airbag light turning off slower, does it happen with both the dash light and the passenger occupancy light? If so, it might be the passenger sensor mat starting to fail (if your car is 2005+). This is happening to me a second time (first time years ago and fixed under warranty). Now it happens occasionally but the light can stay on for minutes.

Also check the condition of your battery.

Wonder if your ding-dinger was simply disconnected.

It can't be "disconnected" -- all warning sounds are played by the computer on a speaker at the back of the speedometer. However, my car computer might have different firmware or settings.

What does it sound like? Is it different from the door open or seatbelt warning sounds?

Hey at least you have gas/petrol engines that behave the same. My diesel needs pre-heating to start, but only in really cold weather, so it happens rarely enough that each time the engine won't turn over at once, I get caught out, thinking something's wrong - but then I see the pre-heater warning and breathe again.

Same as the door and light ding. It starts dinging when you turn the key to position 2 (just before starting the engine). I think it dings 5 or 6 times then stops.

Mine has suddenly started working just fine or it is simply saving up to really screw with me later.....:D

If you put your seatbelt on before you turn the key on you don't get a ding. If leave it off and turn it on you should get a ding.

The initial problem was that the ding-ding wasn't happening every time. And the airbag light was staying on longer than usual. It is all back to normal now, or at least until it isn't.....:D
