1st Gen R53 Cooper S Strike 3 for my R53

    in the past 3 weeks ive had to replace bothe the harmonic balancer and clutch on my 06 R53.

    yesterday as i was re-assembling the car i went to do the coolant, bleed it and such, which ive done plenty of times. started it got in the car, the engine temp was reading off the scale hot, and my scanguage was saying water temp was-40. and the fan was on immediatly. so i narrowed it down to the threads on the coolant temp sensor were messed u and not it all the way.

    put it in, in a tantrum i tried plugging it in after i had bolted the thermostat housing in, and i was tugging on wires and all.i went to go start it and it was just turning over...i had decided to start it before i added the airbox in, so that if somthing was wrong i didnt have to pull it out again, yeah the ems is attached to the airbox, so after a few "im a *******" chuckles, hooked it up and started it.
    It idles very rough, and will not rev over 2k.....ideas? honestly on my last leg with this car

    That's the thjng, my scanner is a scanguageII, it wasn't connecting, I'm gonna do an ecu reset and then plug it in, also gonna look around re trotter body and tha map sensors. I'm guessing in my I just wanna drive the car" tantrum Iay have pulled a wire or vacuum line loose but I won't know till I get into it.
    By the way, does anyone know where to find a labeled diagram for the tiring harness, like that shows what each branch goes to so it'll have one labelled o2 sensor etc. I know when I put it in it's spot they layout pretty much where the go from sitting in that position for 8 years, but realoem doesn't have a labeled one and it's be nice to have

    I would go back through everything you've disconnected and make sure everything's plugged back in first. I missed plugging the throttle body position sensor back together this weekend after doing some extensive maintenance, but from the codes I figured it out fairly quickly. If it was running fine before, and it's doing what you're describing, that sounds like either something didn't plugged back in, or a wire was damaged--hopefully not the latter, that's a major pain. It's going to be tough to figure out without codes; it could literally be anything from an unplugged sensor to a torn intercooler boot. But I'd start by going back through every sensor you unplugged along the way and double check that they're all reconnected properly. It's the easiest place to start.
