Wow, sorry to see this but glad you're ok. I'll second the request for more details when you're up to it. Odd looking damage with almost all the impact directly on the door and relatively little damage visible on the adjoining panels.
I suppose it makes sense if this structural beam (top arrow) was supposed to be lower down in the side skirt (bottom arrow). Or is that just part of the door? The hinges and door jam must be seriously messed up. You can see crinkling in the side marker panel.
Bummer on the total loss but MINI sacrificed its life to save yours. Good luck with everything. Another MINI perhaps?
I am keeping my eyes open. After this accident I want one again because to know that the safety is there is such a relaxing feeling.
Still waiting for my dad to get back from a trip so we can sign the car over to insurance and then we see how much they will give us for the car.
This is an opportunity to change your configuration slightly, any options you plan to go for that you didn't get at first?
