I love concept drawings, always have. It's a shame these artist concepts seem to sometimes lose a bit of their flashy character once they've been developed into a machine for us to enjoy.
Concept drawings were always my favorite in car magazines. I especially loved the ones in the custom car mags from the 50's and 60's. There was always a chance that someone was going to try and build a one of a kind. As far as manufacture concepts it usually is one of a kind, usually at a large venue and then it disappears onto the pages of a coffee-table book as mentioned. I had forgotten about the Rally and Beachcomber concepts, they are pretty cool from a design perspective. Check out more designs at Diseno-art | From concept cars to power boats
Ever notice that concept drawings always have wheels that are unbelievably big and that only have a rubber band as a tire? They also have no gaps in the wheels wells. I love concept car drawings and like many of us I did my own while in a boring classroom. But little more realist wheels would be better.
I always like the little exagerations, the larger wheels, lower roof line, remind me a lot of the Hotwheels when I was a kid. IMO the F56 concept drawings in this artical look ten times better than what hit the streets. The drawings make it look like the F56 could make a hairpin doing a 100, the actual F56 not so much.
