Sorry it looks nice. If it has a CVT transmission it may be covered by MINI/BMW due to a class action suit.

Since the car is a MCS it does not have a CVT. I'd bite the bullet & put a transmission in. Yep it is a lot of money but your car is next to worthless without a functioning one. It will be cheaper than buying another car. Plus you'll have a fun functioning MINI to drive areound.

    Good luck.

I just authorized the mechanic to do the work. Paying $10K for a 10 year old car with high mileage is NOT what I was looking to do. But it's either that or buy a $4K beater and have issues dow the road anyway.

There's still a chance that the tranny is good :fingerscrossed: But it's highly unlikely.

I'm hoping for a good outcome for you.:fingerscrossed:

MINI's are such fun cars, but it sucks that yours is giving trouble right off the bat. Once you are back on the road you'll be a happy camper.

If you need oem parts we have a sponsor here that is very helpful. eMINI parts.com can get you what you need fast & at a good price. They are my go to guys for parts.

Once you get it squared away, you'll grow to love it. I'm keeping mine until I die unless it gets squashed. If that happened, I'd get another one as similar as possible, and start over. Whatever breaks or wears out, I just fix it.

I don't mind having a friendly talk with the dealer that sold you that Mini, I can also firebomb his place for you if you wish :)

Yeah my MINI has been nothing but trouble since I got it a couple of months ago. First the hydraulic mount went out, then one of the control arm bushings & the oil pan. Today I was driving home from work and went to pull out of the parking lot and the thing wouldn't accelerate. It's a 2005 MINI automatic with the CVT. It feels like the car won't shift out of first (or whatever) gear because no matter how far I push the pedal it won't exceed 2000 rpm and doesn't seem to want to go faster than 30ish MPH. Any ideas on what this might be? There isn't an engine light up, so I'm not even sure where to start.

I had issues with mine when I first purchased it, wondered what I got myself into. Once fixed though I have had nothing but fun driving it, it has become my DD. Good luck. hopefully it is something minor.
