BMW built the very last M3 Coupe today. With the 2 door body styles going to an even number and 4 door sticking with odd numbering there will be no more 3 Series Coupes. They will be 4 Series going forward.

Sure, you can still get a M3 sedan (4 door) but the M3 started life a Coupe, not as a Sedan.

    An era has ended today.

I wonder if they staged the production orders going down the line so that the bright orange M3 was in the middle of a bunch of black and white cars that blend into the background...

Just like the rest of the BMW line-up.......bigger numbers to cover the bloated up cars.
Strange that the 1 series cars are actually closer in size to the earlier 3 series cars.

It doesn't matter what they call 'em. Big or small, I'll always have at least one in the garage....

that's sorta sad. M3 coupes are just fantastic cars. I took my Z06 up to Michigan to have a shop put in new seats and dress up that drab, awful GM interior. When I got there he tossed me the keys to his M3 and told me and my wife to go have a great time. I was blown away.

And he said if he didn't smell clutch and brake when we got back, he would charge me double for the work he was doing...a very cool cat indeed.

Don't worry the M3 coupe will be back in a few years.

The way MINI is making every car bigger and bigger the MINI Coupe will be M3 size in no time at all.

Are they releasing an M2 Coupe with a 6 cylinder instead of the V8 boat anchor that they put in the M3? A 6 cylinder M2 Coupe would be a great car just like the M3 was when it had the 6. The new M3 with the V8 is so nose heavy it won't rotate in the corners like the inline 6 did.

From what I've read, the M2 is in the works for 2015. It will come with the M version of the current 3.0 Turbo inline six expected to pump out 360+ hp. Wider rear track with bigger wheel arches and the usual M styling tweaks. While I would prefer to see a NA engine, there seems to be no way of getting around the M division moving to forced induction. At this point I would settle for an engine that's unique to the marque, a la the E60 S85 V10, or even the V8 in the E92. With the pricing for the 2 series out on the web expect the M2 to be in the same range as the 1M: somewhere north of $47k before options.

Oh, and both my car payments should be done just about the time they release it. :ihih:

Why they gotta go screw an icon? M4 or M2 just doesn't sound good in my head... I guess it could be worse though, they could have went with M7.
