I have a 2003 Mini S.I read some threads that talked about slow throttle response related to revving the engine. I have the opposite issue, when I let off of the gas pedal to shift the engine the rpm's don't drop fast enough or enough to match up with what they should be for the next gear. This is most troublesome when going from 1st to 2nd because there is a big ratio change between those two gears. Also when coasting in any gear, around 2000 rpm the throttle lets off very quickly causing the car to jerk. Other threads implied this may be a software issue when revving the engine and I wonder if that is my situation also.

Do you have a software tune in the car? Do you hear a sucking sound for about a second after you shut down the car?

I bought the car used not long ago so I'm not sure if there is a software tune or not. I went and checked and did hear a sucking or hiss when I shut the engine down, I also heard something that sounded like an electric motor followed by a clicking sound.

That delay is just part of the factory programming. You can get a custom tune to adjust it or you can simply adjust your driving style. Doesn't take long.

Does anyone sell a handheld tuner that plugs into obd
port like those sold for some cars and trucks to get a custom tune? If not how would I get a custom tune? I wonder if the factory made that delay on purpose to keep the supercharger boost up?
