Drove 2005 Mini to work, came out at the end of the day to go home and nothing happens when I turn the key in the ignition. Lights don't work. Wipes don't work. No dashboard lights. Absolutely nothing. COmpletely dead. I checked the fuses, they all seem fine. Any ideas what could be wrong?
Battery ran dead maybe? Do you have any accessories that would have been slowly draining the battery?
I am gonna go in the dead battery camp on this one. Were there any early warning signs? Radio kick off? Slow wipers? Dim Lights? Could be bad alternator too.
The battery is two weeks old. Was having problems with need jump starting all the time so broke down and bought a new battery. Jump starting doesn't do anything. No sound is made at all when I turn the key, not even a little whine. No power to windows, lights, nothing.
Under the hood is a jump start stud. It's located on the firewall in a small black plastic box. Check the connection at the jump stud. I had this come loose in my 1st Gen MCS and everything went dead.
Check the battery cables at the battery too. If you just replaced the battery, they may have come loose. I had that happen to me in the middle of traffic....car went completely dead
Any electrical smells? I have heard of battery cable rubs back in the boot causing airbag sensor to fire the battery charge.
I have found that jumping via the studs is not completely reliable. In both MCS and MC. My battery died recently in my vert. I had a strut bar on and no tools with me so I couldn't remove the battery cover. Tried jumping via the studs with no luck. The wife brought some tools. Pulled the bar and the cover, connected directly to the battery terminals and bam! started like a charm.
