During my travels (far from home) these past two days, I ran across a framed advertising poster for a TR-3 in a judges office. It had a TR-3 in the foreground of a heard of glopping horses. It said:

    !00 HP

    0 to 50 in 8 seconds

    Rigid "X" type frame.

    35 MPG

    Synchronized in 2 - 3 - 4

    Extras were:

    White wall tires

    Overdrive

    Hard top

    Wire wheels

    Wind screen washers

    Tonneau cover

    Rear seat

It was really cool, but I never saw one with a rear seat that I remember. How come nobody makes wire wheels for the MINI? I liked them. :cornut:

    Because anyone that's had them
on a TR, know they suck, lol. And try to find a good tuner these days, ugh!

    Cheers

Actually, I was finding out what the disposition on a case was (for some else I might add). I saw the poster and we had a good chat about old TR's. :D

Didn't know the TR3 could have rear seat either......but here is a picture of one.

    Triumph TR3 "B"

Not a seat I would want to use!

Hate to admit this, but I like that. Who makes them?

Thanks Scott. I honestly never saw that. I do hope BMW makes a tonneau cover for the roadster and wire wheels would look very nice on that.

I know they were a pain, as Mr Jim says, but today they should be able to make some that are tune free.

    Dayton Wire Wheel

Borrani makes a wire wheel for the MINI as well. Looks darn good but the price may cause you to choke.

Wow, those are really nice until I got to the price. I don't think I can be nearly that good until next Christmas. :D

I agree and would not do that to my MINI, but the roadster is another story. That is the one I have my eye on.

Total Cool.. I guess the 61 TR3 I had in the late 60's was the B, as I had a 'rear seat'..lol ok a shelf!! Didnt get the wire wheels as stated above.. they were never straight and a bummer to correct.

As for tuning.. took me two weeks on those SU carbs.. THOSE were a blast to mess with, and mess with, and mess with..lol But when they were correct.. that little 4 cylinder would rock on the SoCal freeways!!

We actually sold it for the first child.. we didnt feel there was enough room!! And then there was the 67 fastback mustang ( thumper)

    Good memories! Thanks

Did I get this correct? You sold a TR-3 and used the money to buy a kid? I would have to think a bit on that move. :cornut:

Classic Minis never came with wire wheels, so I don't see the look on the new cars either.

Modern spokes are stainless, and stay true and in balance just like any other wheels.

Truing a wire wheel is a lost art, I'll bet there are only a handfull of people left alive who can still do it.
