On a UNI air filter do you have to use UNI oil and cleaner? I have a lot of K&N air filter oil and cleaner left from my old car.
Be VERY careful and read the instructions for both the Uni filters and the cleaner kit. Not all filters are created equal and the cleaning kit for one style filter may actually destroy another. Typically, gauze type filters, like the K&N, will all use a similar cleaner/oil and work just fine. The same goes for foam filters. BUT, don't use foam oil and cleaners on gauze filters and vise versa.
When I had a foam filter in my DDM intake I just used Dawn dish washing soap to clean it. I have since replaced the restrictive uni foam filter with a better flowing K&N filter. All the specs of the filter is listed below and it's fits perfectly in the DDM intake. DO NOT USE THE K&N cleaner or oil on a foam (THE BEST) filter. You can get the proper stuff from most motorcycle shops.
The facts are Foam is the BEST for very high dust environments like the Baja 1000. Cotten is by far way better for air flow in low dust environments like everyday driving. Go Dyno your car with each one and then argue a stupid point. I did and I know which one is BEST already. K&N hands down and bonus you don't need to even oil it.
LOL Foam is best....wanna know why. Cause I tested it myself. Unless you like maintaining your cotton filter A LOT, get a foam one.
the KITS for cotton filters are different than foam..... the FOAM WILL BE DESTROYED if you use the K&N kit.... So just buy a kit for FOAM filters!! Like mentioned above...a motorcycle shop will stock the right kits!
I used K&N on my Scion xB and all of my Triumph's especially the Race Bikes and all lasted at least 10 years and made a large benefit over the stock filters.
Yeah..well my air filter that was finely crafted from the gossamer wings of fallen red headed fairies that lost their wings and were then collected by unicorns shod with shoes made by Thor himself is better.. So there! Oh yeah, it's oiled with first pressing baby harp seal oil.
I use lint from my pockets & a just a wee bit of navel lint. Big power adder man. Baby oil all the way.
Hahahahahaha I just laughed my a$$ off.:lol::devil: I have nothing to add, except I would not be proud to have anything on my car with the name ALTA on it.:lol::lol:
