Was wondering if there is a version of the cooper/clubman front/center console that doesn't have the cupholders? And if not, does anyone have a lead on any posts that may dive into the custom work getting rid of them?
Welcome to M/A the FUN Mini site. It would help if you took a picture of the cup holder you want to get rid of.... year and model would also help. I have never see anyone get rid of them. Everyone uses them as storage for stuff. I am sure you can cut them out if you are talented with a dremel.
Don't have one yet. I was looking at a 2012-1014 clubman. it has this kind of center console on it 2007-2012 Mini Cooper Shifter Handbrake Center Console Trim Cup Holder Oem - Used for sale in Miami, Florida | UsedCooper.com Ideally, i'd be able to remove both cupholders and just have it end in a rounded edge
Bet you could custom fab one up..maybe cover it in some alecrantra... Just buy a used one...hack it up...add some fiberglass....and cover the carnage. Not sure about the understructure...might be covering a bump or wires... But once you have the car...you can yank yours off...and look...
There is the ashtray that MINI makes (P/N51162756336).... It fits the cup holders very nice.... Maybe consider getting two... I use mine to hold loose change...
The console & cup holders are no uglier than the ones in my R53. Maybe the whine makes the R53 ones more beautiful?
Tresser.... Pay no attention to David.0 I keep my loose change in them.... He keeps his loose nuts in them...
Hey...at least the ashtray is useful for change!! The cupholders are useless for anything but a CAN of coke....and most stores don't sell those ad singles anymore....heck they splash on tight high G TURNS anyway....
The only round drinking receptical that I have been able to utilize in those things are the cans of cold coffee I pick up from the Japanese Markets. We could patition BMW to call them something a little more fitting (pardon the pun). How about Organizers, maybe Collectors?
I had a MiniFini cup holder installed at MOTD and it works great. The console "stuff holders" I use for well, stuff.
