A huge THANK YOU! I am really impressed by your results (I know it was much better to actually be there). I know I had no thoughts at all about recording this (and would never imagined such professional results, even if I had), so I'm feeling like this whole chain of events has all worked out pretty well. Thanks again for everything.
NICE! There was no "winner" (or were we ALL winners? Or were the R53's just whiners with those superchargers spooling up?) Ya had to be there... Thanks Poon! Lessons learned for next time: - Record exhaust at idle, then on start - Not really a burnout contest, but a demo on how the exhaust sounds (though the hard starts WERE fun...) - schedule demo rides afterwards for folks who want to see what it sounds/performs like from the inside GREAT BIG NOISY FUN, though!
Sorry to resurrect an old thread! These videos are awesome, it would be very benificial to know what exhaust/engine combination each run is.
The Yellow MINI had my "one off custom" straight back exhaust on a RMW street header. My Chili Red had a Millteck with an RMW street header. I did a silly burn out. rrr: I loaned him (the yellow MINI) my custom "one off" exhaust when his exhaust failed right before the Dragon. The exhaust is all 2 1/2 SS TIG welded and has only (2) Magnaflow "mufflers/ resonators". It's one piece and runs from the header under the OEM battery box to the OEM outlet with Corvette tips. Is it loud, yup. :eek6: I put it on in the Spring I run it every year at the Dragon and a few weeks after.
The best exhaust cant be bought, but it can be built! IMO the best sounding and best performing exhausts are all custom designed and built.
I can agree with that, however a lot of my customers do not want to have custom exhaust built. They want that McDonalds cheeseburger carbon copy consistency so they know what they are getting themselves into before biting (paying) down!
I think there are some great exhaust options out there and while they all sound good, the downside is that your exhaust will sound exactly like another's with the same set up. I started with a standard Borla Race but after combining it with a cat-less RMW headers, RMW head, addition of Flowmaster resonator and topped it off with custom built exhaust tips. The resulting tone is, for better or worse, uniquely LOUD =)
Its all what you're shooting for! Don't want to come off as a hypocrite but I have an off the shelf system for now. I haven't gotten my build done yet, I am sure I will be constantly playing with it till I find that sweet spot. I want it to be quiet, yet free flowing! I would rather hear induction noise...That intoxicating whine and some burble,no ricey fart cannon
