Well concidering the age and mileage on my '03 MCS, I sprung for a Warranty program for my MINI. Seeing how exspensive parts and labor is I figure it is a good idea to get it. It covers the engine, transmission, cooling system, heater,Air conditioning, electrical, axels,cv joints, and suspension.I covers road side assistance and will take the car to a MINI dealer to have the problems resolved.

If you mod your MINI your warranty is gone. Sad, but true. :frown2:

    That's not true!

The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act of 1975 gives you a lot of protection.

This is not a factory warranty 53vette is talking about. I hope you have a large lawyer to fight for the denied warranty due to modding the car.

I modded my car while still under warranty, my dealer is & was mod friendly. I had no problems, that being said others have had warranty work denied because of aftermarket parts & modding.

Heck some folks can't even get warranty fixes for their unmodded cars. :eek:ut:

I won't do anything that I can't return to stock before it has to go for any warranty work. And I always keep the original parts when I do anything.

    Exactly.
I doubt they'd know you did a pulley anyway.

I'd guess that most shops wouldn't. When I took my MINI in for its first free oil change the SA asked how I liked the pulley. Yep they noticed, but like I said we are lucky here that our dealer is a good one. The service side that is.

Well I did more research on the company who is out of Atlanta,Ga. and what I found was disappointing so I will not be doing business with them. I'll just start putting money back in the event that I have a needed repair. I hate when a company mis-represents themselves.

When I bought my '06 I was offered a warranty and turned it down.... a lot of times those aftermarket ones have a lot of "loopholes" and you end up not getting things covered.
Plus the whole sale was the sketchiest car buying experience I've ever had so I would not be taking my car anywhere near them EVER again.

Just keep a "repair fund" at all times for unexpected repairs.

Sounds like the stealership that I bought my '09 Scion xB from, it took me 4 hours to pay cash for the car and get out of there! Never went back and had it serviced at a Toyota dealer closer to me.

IF you bought / Buy an 'aftermarket warranty' , (IE not BMW) they usually allow shops other than the BMW dealership to work on the car. Of course they will have an inspector to look at the damage/failure, and then justify the repairs.

Most shops will do what is allowed under the warranty, and your good. IF it is obvious that the damage was related to the mod.... the inspector will decline the repair, but only on that item. Here in da south AC is a Priority, yes?? My extended aftermarket warranty cover everything... as long as the inspector is ok with the appearance of the engine. YES I remove the NOS injector and the w/m ... and all is cool. Most independent shops want the work, where I wonder some times about the Dealership. yes??

    Just a thought here......

    This is for Jason:

Once upon a time, a girl with a Hello Kitty tattoo was looking for an R53.

She searched online until she found him. So she called the dealership and put a deposit on it before she ever saw it.

The next night which was a Tuesday night, she drove up to see and test drive the MINI. He was perfect to her... Just what she was looking for. So she told the salesman she wanted the car. The salesman told her that he would call tomorrow to give her the numbers.
And so she left for home dreaming of her new MINI.

The next morning the salesman called as promised and all the numbers were good, so she said YES! I want the MINI. She then told him she would take delivery Saturday.

So the next few days went by and were torture for the girl.... She had to wait to get her beloved new MINI.

Saturday finally came, so she set out for the dealership to get her MINI.
When she got to the dealership, she sat down with the finance girl and began the paperwork. Her salesman came in and said they never inspected the car, but she could take it home that day anyway and they would come get it the following week, inspect it, then bring it back to her. She reluctantly agreed.

Tuesday morning a man came and took her new, beloved MINI, leaving her a loaner. Ok she thought, all was well.

But when she got her MINI back at the end of the day, she discovered that the new tires they were supposed to put on her car were not done, and the rim that was bent was also not fixed. In fact, they had put an old, bald tire in the place of the one that had a bulge in it which was why new tires were supposed to be put on in the first place.

So the girl called the dealership in a hurry to find out what happened..... She was told to sit tight and wait till tomorrow to find out what happened.

The next day morning came and went and there was no call. So the girl called the dealership and asked for her salesman. She was told he had off that day. So she asked for the GM... Which she did get to talk to..... He told her he would find out what happened.

A half an hour later she got a call from the Used Car manager. He told her that it must have slipped through the cracks....... REALLY? So he asked what they could do to fix the situation. She told him to order and send the new tires to HER dealership just 5 minutes from her house. Then she said that they would pay her dealership to mount and balance them, as well as fix the bent rim. He agreed.

So the girl took her MINI to her dealership that she trusted and had the new tires put on and the rim fixed. She also had them go over the entire car because at this point she didn't trust the dealership she bought it from. And told them to change the oil.... She figured this wasn't done.

Her dealership gave her a list of items that needed attention.... The most important was a leaking water pump. And she was also right... The oil hasn't been changed either. There were other OBVIOUS issues like it needed new brakes.

Her dealership sent the seller one the bill for the tires, rim fix and the oil change. The selling dealership refused payment for the oil change.... Said it hadn't been agreed upon prior. Seriously? An oil change?

So there is the story of how the girl with the Hello Kitty tattoo got her MINI from a schetchy dealership and had to pay for all the repairs herself that should have been done by the dealership that sold it to her before selling it and had 4 days to inspect a car they were selling and somehow didn't get around to it?

    THE END

Damnit. I was hoping you'd say some useless little used dealer...

I got Buddy from there and they seemed so nice/aware of what they were doing. Suppose that's because I ordered a new one and they didn't really have to do much to him...

I honestly don't know what happened.... I just think it was so odd and sketchy. I've bought 8 or 9 cars (used and new) and I've never had any experience like this before.

I hate to say it, but I really think they tried to pull the "she's a girl, she won't notice we put a used, NON matching tire on the car" :mad5:
