Brakes Wheels 1st Gen Tires Well, Since There Is All This Wheel Talk Goin' On

    I searched, but didn't find any info on a question I have regarding the R98 Web Spoke 2piece rim.

    I have a chance to get a set, with rubber(goodyear Eagle F1 AS), OR a set of S-Lites with rubber(a lil more wear) for a bit more $$$. Both at 17'', btw.

    So, here is my inquiry: Does anyone know of, or have had, issues with the Web Spokes. I have heard a few times about "clicking" but can't get anything confirmed. I have read up about corrosion issues on the 2 piece, but I can deal with refurb down the road if needed be. . . though, no matter what set I go with, they will be getting powder coated matte black, but if I DO go web spoked, leave the lip polished.


    Any feedback would be great!!

    I have web spokes since new. 50k miles on them now. The only issue I have is the peeling clear coat on the lip. Some scratches and such from normal use. Otherwise they have survived surprisingly well. In the same time I am on a 3rd set of cheap rims on my other Mini and the last set had at least two wheels fixed by now.

    Nice choice of wheels :Thumbsup: I've had mine on since new now with 36,000 miles and two different sets of tires installed. Staying away from curbs and having a good tire installer who has a machine that is gentle on the rims has helped.
