Werkin Mini has become an Endyn performance provider. Endyn has designed heads for both the R50 & R53 optimized for the camshaft of your choice; no other MINI performance heads have this level of synergistic engineering. The long wait times of the past are no more. Contact Werkin Mini directly for help choosing the right head for your application.:smile5:

This sounds tasty for sure. Finally we're starting to see some system design :D

So what size injectors with the crower/NS1 combo? And header rec's?

Down the road, are you considering doing the whole kit and kaboodle--ie mod/tuning parties regionally?

The more I've read about endyn, the better it's looked from a quality standpoint--the only issue has been with the amount of time it takes to get his stuff. If it's digitized though, that should help significantly.

An endyn head mated to the NS1 may be a very attractive option for a street car/track car combo, I suspect when it's all said and done, if it's priced right, it'll be more popular than the NS2/BVH endyn head combo, as that isn't going to be as friendly as a daily driver. I was thinking about potentially going with the endyn BVH and NS2, but after setting up with coilovers/R-comps on the track recently, (for me) that's probably overkill, the car holds it's own as is, and it may push the car too much toward the track--I still like driving it everyday whenever I can. Nevertheless, I'd like a bit more HP for the MINI unfriendly tracks like Road America.

I'll be following this; I have a 2006 JCW, and I'd love to see how the NS1/endyn combo will work out, and wether it'll be a big enough jump to justify swapping out from what I currently have. Not doing anything until next spring at the earliest, so I'm in no hurry, but this has potential. Hope it works out!

I recommend the OEM header port matched to the head and the pre-cat deleted for the majority of applications. In this thread Dynorun Mini from Krumm-Motors.de - Mini Torque all the cars are running the Endyn huge valve head, two of the cars including the white cabrio have the OE header/pre-cat delete, the white car makes 200 lb-ft of torque. BTW, two of the cars are also running Endyn roller wave pistons that raise static compression ratio a half point. There are no less than 5 huge valve Endyn heads in operation in Germany making big numbers.

I have an NS1 with Endyn mid-range focused head on my car; I don’t require a dyno or G-Tech to define its performance level, low-end, and midrange, are outstanding, top-end is not shabby either. It already “works outâ€, speculation is a moot point.

Keith, with all due respect, there aren't many cars running this combo yet. A series of one does not a series make....I've seen too many instances where something initially looked great, and then eventually blew up in flames. Not saying it's going to with your setup, in fact I think it looks good on paper, and there is a very good chance I'll end up going this route in the future provided I can get it done properly with a tune, etc.

All the same, it is great news, and like I said, it may be the route I end up going.

Now that Endyn has designed camshaft optimized heads, it’s no longer necessary to trade low-end performance for top-end capabilities. Maximum sized valves and precision matched valve guides add to costs, but that’s the only downside. The head example below made 244 hp & 188 lb-ft tq on a 109F day, with an NS2 camshaft, an impressive 174 lb-ft at 3k rpm.

Endyn zeros the head deck flat, no tolerance is accepted.

The valves are shaped by Endyn for optimum flow on the face, edge, back, and stem.

Endyn precision matches the guides to exacting tolerances far beyond accepted standards. A great deal of time is devoted to the exhaust ports to be sure spent gasses have a quick, unimpeded exit.

Extreme care is taken in intelligently shaping appropriate areas of the ports; a little narrower here and attention to the short side radius there, encourages flow velocity. Endyn focuses on quality of flow as well as flow quantity. Maintaining air/fuel mixture quality as it’s delivered into the combustion chamber is very important..

What is not shown in the photos above is attention to the valve springs. Endyn tests each spring to be assured all spring pressures are equal and optimum for the springs used; they take a further step by prepping the spring for the retainer.

So what type of numbers did you see (or do you expect to see) with the NS1/endyn combo?

I'm considering either the BVH/NS2 or the normal VH endyn/NS1 combo (after throwing on coilovers, I'm not sure I really need to go the BVH route (If you're getting those type of numbers, an upgraded clutch/flywheel are probably in order), just need a little more power and maintain as much day to day drivability as I can. Also, which injectors are you using with each setup?

Predictions cannot be made; there are too many variables. I can provide examples and will in the future.

Drivability is not an issue with any Endyn Head/NS combo by itself. A clutch choice beyond your needs can make driving a chore.:yesnod:

Even a high-stress enduring clutch on a stock motor can be wasted with a day of clutch slipping burnouts, or a burnout with the p-brake engaged after a 100F afternoon of autocross.:wink5: Clutch longevity has more to do with the way it is used than power output in most cases. Of course there are exceptions, I’m not making light of this, and I can provide aftermarket clutch/flywheels if needed.

I love learning more about head options since I have most bolt on mods so my only options now are head/cam/header/tune

Those four items are the most important components of an engine performance package. My opinion is, no one component should outshine the other, balance is the key, and it starts with the head.

Well, actually it begins with a realistic assessment of needs and is tempered by budget. Give those two things a consideration and contact me (e-mail or phone) for options and recommendations WERKINMINI.COM | mini cooper parts, installation, repair, and maintenance.

For limited budgets under $1k and short-term goal targets, NS1 camshaft, delete OE header pre-cat, and tune. If you want to “feel” like you have more torque, the Sprint Booster is a great panacea for that inadequate accelerator sensation.

Thats exactly what I am looking for, Probably a few hundred every month on parts and slowly get there.

I emailed them about the NS1 Camshaft and it sounds fantastic, I just need to find an installer by 55125 Woodbury, MN

I am looking at OBX for the Header precat since it has the best feedback for a header that is under $200 Also someone suggested the Magnaflow Cat over stock. Id love a custom head one day as well but probably not soon since they are spendy and take a while to get ( I use my car every day, only vehicle I own ) Also a tune is impossible to find in my area! I would like one as soon as I get header and cam though. The Sprint Booster is another option to go with the cam and header huh? I will have to look into that thank you! Is it easy to install? Ill search for it. :cornut:

Here is one resource for finding a local installer BMW Repair Shops & Mechanics in Minnesota | BimmerShops.com and armed with my installation pdf you should be covered.

The OBX moves away from my balanced components philosophy and I recommend waiting on that until after a performance head install.

The Sprint Booster takes 10 minutes to install.

Thank You for the link. Is there any head options that I wouldnt have to send mine in and have to wait, or would that be very expensive. thank you!

I have a head core at Endyn, when an order is placed the head is put in the queue, average completion time is three weeks. Contact me [email protected] for more details please.

yah yah. that is all great news Keith. I love my head and cam and i actually just put the new rockers in yesterday:cornut:. I cant wait to see what other people can do with the ENDYN stuff:popcorn:

Great work Keith I know you are working hard to get more things rolling.

As for the obx header that was asked about earlier. I can vouch that the precat delete and even a port job on the stock header is much better than the oem in my opinion. I have seen K-huevo's header and the quality of work there, very nice.
