Looking to redo all my rubber exhaust hangers as they looked tired and stretched out while I was installing the Milltek. When I search the part number from realoem 18101174146 it shows me two different versions for the middle hangers. Can’t remember but mine looks like the red one I thought it was deformed like that but it’s how it’s supposed to look like. Now don’t know which one to get. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
I believe the bottom (red) has a reinforced flat to support the mufflers. Or the last time I messed with those they were fairly rigid. And, I don't see two holes in the black version - you could drill them but... and one of the holes needs room to adjust the fit.
Two holes? These are for the midpipes, it’s only held by a 8mm bolt (so only needs one bolt) and the other end is inserted to the metal brace. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
You can use either for the Mid pipe. Only the red ones will work for the rear inner supports. I think the black ones are for the 2002-2004 model years before the facelift in 2005.
But you look at the position of the hole, the black is higher than the red one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
Ok the ones in my car (2004 model year but with 09/2003 build) the ones in the midpipe look like the black ones. And actually I think for all years the middle hangers should look like the black one but could be red if it's the original ones. The second one (red) is for the inner muffler hanger rods the ones that point towards the battery which are for the late 2004-06 models. You can use it for the midpipe but if you have an aftermarket exhaust with a bigger OD it may hit the bracket because the pipe won't sit high enough. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
red are for the back, black is for the the center location to support the mid pipe / resonator. It's an aftermarket part when black. OEM is red in both places and costs 2-4x more. Aftermarket is a hit and miss. I recently bought 4 of the center hangers from aftermarket brands and one of them was useless as the carrier metal part in it was too short and the part simply would not bolt on and stay on the car. I just got a box of fresh parts from FCP Euro to try a different source. They all look good and solid. These are going on my blue car because that noisy Megan Racing exhaust keeps hitting the rear bumper cover even though the gap is bigger than on any of the other cars. I am guessing the hangers are shot.
