1st Gen R53 Cooper S What just happened !

Today I was returning to the middle of Missouri from Louisville and I was about four hours into the trip when all of a sudden I lost all throttle control :confused5:
The motor was just idling, all resistance in the accelerator was gone, engine would not rev at all.
I coasted onto the shoulder and stopped, looked at gages, everything OK, no CEL no service soon just idling.
I had thought it had gone into limp mode :frown2:
So I shut the engine off, popped the bonnet everything appeared normal, got back in turned the key, :fingerscrossed: varoom started right back up accelerator worked just fine, so what was it ?

Like I said I had been driving for about four hours at speed, approx 75 MPH using the cruse control when possible, when occurrence happened the cruise was on but not active. after the problem and once again motoring down the road I tried to activate the cruise again and indicator light would come on then immediately shut off.

The rest of the trip no problems, just no cruise control. This is where I need input, is it a vacuum line ? Maybe a control box, or something else, Help....

Yes it is an r53. Will look into throttle pedal assembly.

It was weird, felt like throttle/pedal was connected to nothing.
