It's time to replace my tires. The wear bars are starting to get worn down, so I'll take that as a sign. I'm currently running BFGoodrich KDW-2's, and in my opinion, they are a good tire. But, I want to see if there are any others that I should also consider. Living up here in WA, something that performs well in wet is a Good Thing, but doesn't have to be an all-season, since I have my Blizzak LM-25's for the winter. What should I look at, and why do you think I should consider it?
I just got some Nitto Neogens, and they stick real good in both wet and dry conditions Nitto Tire - High Performance Tires for Car and Truck Enthusiasts Mark
Let me ask your assistance here Mark. I don't completely understand the tire wheel thing, but was thinking of 15/7, with +40 offset wheels and 205/50/15 tires. Would this arrangement cause trouble in wet conditions? Would it cut MPG? What size wheels are you using? Jim
I'm using the OEM 15" holies that came on the car. I have had no issues in wet conditions, even going hard into tight twisties. I recently was on the highway in a downpour, roadway had a couple of inches of standing water, and things stayed very stable. I have broke the back end lose in standing water going hard into a downhill turn, with the road sloping away. But I grew up using the e-brake to drift around corners in the snow Mark
I had a set of Nitto's and I thought they were a excellent value. Incredibly sticky and very predictable performance wise. My only issue with them is they wear out pretty quickly. Granted I consider myself a 'spirited' driver, some would say 'nuts', but we'll save that for a diff day. I got about 20-25K out of them which for performance tires with the UTOQ ratiing they have is not bad. I'm running a set of General Exclaim UHP's right now. I don't like them as well as the Nitto's performance wise but they supposedly have greater treadwear. I've had them since Feb of this year so the jury is out. Next up I'm thinking Bridgestone or another set of Nitto's
You might want to double check Nitto's site, there's very little they don't fit Nitto Tire - High Performance Tires for Car and Truck Enthusiasts
Not really, they state it as a size they offer. I'd check around. When I was purchasing wheels a rep for Discount Tire said to give him a shot on Nitto's as he said he would beat any price (This was after I bought them from 'Tire Discount')
heres a very good option from Bridgestone in your size. $106 from Tire Rack Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport
Thanks once again. As the 205 is the tred width I assume (and we know what that means) going to a 7" wheel won't change anything? Jim
There is a column in the link I posted, any tire mfg will have it, that states the range of widths of wheel their tires will fit
