So, I am bored and we have had a few people in the Mid Ohio Motoring Group buy their kid a "new" to them MINI lately. Well it got me thinking what was your first car? Mine was a 1986 Dodge Ram 50: While this isn't an actual picture of my truck it looks identical...Mine had 200k+ miles on it, 4spd manual no air and the heat barely worked, but it was mine and I was proud of it...and for some reason the woman loved it...
My first car is a 1952 MG TD and I still have it! I paid $700 for it in 1972. It is currently in primer, after a frame up restoration. Dave
Sweet! I got pulled over by the CHP in '67 when the Monza I was driving threw its fan belt & started to smoke... My first car - '71 Ford Capri
The first car I was allowed to drive was amid-70's Nova. A stropped down, no AC, AM radio version. First car I bought with my own money was a 79 Super Beetle. My first 'New Car' was an 84 VW GTI
1969 VW Beetle..... Very fond memories.. Empi Exhaust extractor with a single stinger trumpet.... It blew flames with back fires.... Achievements.... Got it airborne, with all 4 tires off the road.... Crossed a river with it.... The door seals were water tite and it had rudimentary steering with the front wheels.... Make sure you dry the brakes before really needing them.... Those were the best of times in 69....
My first car had a 351 Cleveland, unfortunately it was in this 1978 - 79 Mercury Cougar. It was the size of the Ark and would fly if you gave it a mile to get going. It sucked at turning and stopping but everyone could ride to the Drive-In in just one car.
1978 Chevy Luv 4x4 pickup truck. Black with orange and yellow decals on the sides and hood. I would tell people just look for the halloween truck to find me!!
1973 AMC Javelin. It only took me a few months to totale it and a cop car. Oh yea and the police officer shattered he's wind sheld when his head hit it. Bad seen man! I was 15
1959 Morris Mini Minor 850...THE first Mini of any kind...4-speed, non-synchronized, choke on the dash and starter button on the floor, 5 gal. gas tank [36 mpg of regular gas @ 12c/gal.], 520 tires and 10" wheels, 6 volt battery [positive ground...VERY hard to find], BMC 36 HP engine, slider windows in the front and flippers in the back, TERRIBLE heater/defrost system.............ahhhhhhhh, youth. My dad bought it in 1960 for $300 and I got it in 1961.
1972 Ford Maverick with warmed-up 302 & C4 auto. True sleeper. It was 1986 and made a few of the local kids with parents that had cubic $ really mad.
1973 Mercury Capri. Metallic green with fat 60 series Kelly Springfields. It had the 2 liter, milled head, headers and a Weber 2 barrel carb. Paid $900. I beat that poor car and learned how to fix everything I broke. My mom always said she knew where I was because her friends would see in some parking lot fixing the car.
