Looking to get a set of wheels for my GP2. So far this is what I am looking for NM 17" RSe05. Best price so far is $987.80 for a set of 4. Any vendors on here that can beat that price? Anyone know where to get them cheaper. Got to get some winter tires and don't want to be swapping tires back and forth on rims.

I agree mounting & removing tires repeatedly is not good for the tires. But man those are some expensive hoops. I'd guess you could find other 17" rims for a bunch less money. I know they wouldn't look as good, but they are only for winter use.

Yes I agree they are expensive but finding the right spacing and the right spoke shape is difficult with those big brakes.

    Yes shipping included.

Just call Tire Rack. They are knowledgeable about MINIs, and besides, it's a no-cost call.

Just an aside. MAP price = Minimum Advertised Price.

It usually doesn't mean they can't be sold for less just not advertised for less. You see this all the time (call for lowest price, add to cart to see the price)

I have a set of the second ones listed in 16 inch which I ran on MTTS this year, they are awesome wheels as well as attractive. (the 16s obviously would not clear your brakes but I am certain the 17s would).

I run the NM wheels in silver here at home but did not want to chance damaging any on the trip and sparcos were a good less expensive alternative

Rick, If you find a rim you like and fits on Tire Rack do not order it from them on-line if you have any friends in the tire business that orders tires from the Rack.

If you have a friend in the business they get a discount off the web pricing you see on-line. They can login to tire rack as a dealer and get the rims even cheaper and sometime is $30 - $50 cheaper per rim. Not as much of a discount on tires but still a good discount.

My local mechanic (my friend) and I do the barter system. I do some work for him at his garage (electrical) and I get everything at his cost. (win win) He charges me nothing to mount and balance tires, I use his lift and tools when I need to change fluids on my car. He also does my PA state Inspection and Emissions at cost.

Oh and he also gets paid in homemade Christmas cookie from my wife. (25 lbs bag)

    Rick,

The RSe05 are nice and those get my vote. Our options on the GP2 are limited. JCW Challenge spokes also can fit, with a 12mm spacer.

It's just a little bit more cost for the NM wheels but you'll get good use out of them and can always recover some of the cost of you ever sell them off in the future.

^^^ Ture but the JCW Challenge spokes are like boat anchors Vs the 16lbs RSe05.

    Less unsprung weight = free HP/Speed :Thumbsup::devil:

Agree, however I thought that Rick is looking for winter wheels.

Can always use the GP wheels for winter, and get something lighter for summer. That's what I am planning ;)

^^ Yeah I talked to Rick the other night and the ugly OEM GP wheels make great Winter beaters. Just like my old school OEM S-light / heavy boat anchors. :D

This way he can pick up a nice set of good looking "light" Summer wheels and tires for the Dragon.

somehow I did not get this from the op- I thought the gp wheels were being saved for summer and you were looking for winter beater wheels. In that case, by allmeans get the NM wheels-I have black ones on my red 05 and silver on the white 08.
