So we have the "winter driving or not" thread and what about all of us that have the MINI away now. Projects, repairs, etc? I'll start and once I really start i'll post in correct sections 1. front and rear brake pads, rotors, SS lines, fluid flush. 2. Install Vorsc. adjustable camber plates 3. Install Mynes V2 header 4. Install AFR gauge with sensor 5. strip and refinish M7 hood scoop there might be more but that's enough for now. Anyone else? Cheers Mr. Jim
In another 1500 miles or so I'll 1) Change oil and filter 2) Rotate and balance tires 3) Clean the winter scum off, both inside and out 4) polish and wax
Already done: replace crank pulley rebuild front calipers clean wheel hubs with dremel and swap plastic centering rings for aluminum with fresh anti-seize regrease rear caliper slide pins install new front rotor discs & new rear rotors, inspect hat and hardware new front/rear street pads, bed in install cravenspeed shifter plate Still on the list: Re-install front brake ducts, repair ducts with duct tape as necessary Flush brakes with new fluid Bleed clutch slave with new fluid Install new quickfit pro harnesses Wash and wax car Clean up paint chips on hood and front bumper And that doesn't include my daily driver, which is leaking oil as we speak!
I've done nothing to mine other than load a bunch more miles on. Can't wait to clean all the carp off the MINI & take the snow shoes off. Come on SPRING!!!
Well, I've been assembling all the parts needed so I could just hit it all at once, plus it's been too cold to get motivated!
Let me see if I have this right. You store you car during the winter, so you can do mods on it, but because it is too cold you wait till spring to start them? Then your car is back on the road by summer, just before it goes back into storage for next winter. Hummmmmmm...... :cornut: Jim
Hey, it's not spring yet! it will be done before driving season starts this year. And for the record this winter has been way colder and the mod list is longer than previous years. There is a method to my madness
OK, I have to ask. When you finely drive it out of the storage bay, if you see it's shadow, do you go back inside? Jim
No way, that would mean the sun is out, wouldn't it? Now if I didn't see it's shadow, lol that would be a different story But seriously once the salt is gone from the roads the MINI stays outside until the winters first road salting.
Back in the saddle again! All the winter projects are complete and just came back from alignment shop and all I can say is SWEET! And with two days till spring no less. I told you there was a method to my madness
So, if you store your MINI for the winter you have to have it re-aligned? Man, I'm saving money by driving mine. :cornut: Jim
