Ah, there's a link with "more", describing the Francais origin, etc. I was about to launch in to a minor rant about popular but aberrant spellings like "walla": "There I was, thinkin' and thinkin', then walla! I got the answer", where voila! was intended. Sigh. :rolleyes5: Looks like this one's been around long enough (1917?) to have it's own well established American English history, no ranting needed. Which is not to diminish the whole "word o' the day" thing anyhow...I always enjoy such!
