MINI has dusted off and updated the most exciting concept from the past five years. The MINI Rocketman was meant to show off how far MINImalism could go and how the original MINI could be reinterpreted without an increase in size. The updates aren’t dramatic but they do offer some new interior ideas while wrapping [...] (visit MotoringFile for the full article) More...
Ummmmm.... Nope Gayness form factor is looming too large for my tastes..... Not that there is anything wrong with that.... Just not for me....
So we'll see lots of them running round the Short North here in Columbus? All those smaller cars would sure make parking easier.
Yup.... Afraid so.... I don't see them as track warriors or River Run participants.... Expect to see a lot of them flitting around during the "Do Dah" and "Gay Pride" parade loaded up with rainbow stickers and such.....
I love the car itself, but the red/white/blue interior crap would be getting replaced ASAP. But I like the size and everything else! Then again, I'm one of those who has rainbow and equality stickers on her car. Oh and the Flying Spaghetti Monster.
The basic, overall exterior design is not that bad (minus the tail lights)...in fact, I rather like it for what this car is intended to be. They just seem to be trying way too hard with the contrasting colors. Lose the red grill, the excessive red pinstriping on the side panels, and add a body colored roof and you'd have a sharp little runabout. The interior, on the other hand, is wretched.
Whilst the front grill is awkward at best, the overall dimensions of the exterior is pretty good... But the interior is another story, gimmicky to plain fugly, and the designers when redesigning the center pod should leave the ice bucket in the hotel room....
Now this really is CUTE! I like the exterior, except the tail lights. They look like handles. Nice shade of blue and I like the red and white details. I even like the grille. The interior is awful, but it does have an athletic uniform look to it that is in keeping with the Olympic theme. I don't quite understand the roof and would like to see better pictures of it. The braces are illuminated? It must be fun to work on designing these concept cars.
I'm okay with the interior colors, because this is a publicity item for the London Olympics and would be expected to be somewhat garish. But it's easily fixed. Why not? I think anybody would have thought the same if they were looking at a classic Mini for the first time.
