Gone over to the dark side. After 15 years of Miata ownership (3 cars, much of the time with 2 in the stable) I traded my last existing Miata, a Competition Yellow '09 GT tonight for my brand spankin' '11 JCW PW/R. I've been closet-motoring for a while now and finally decided to take the plunge and jumped in head first. I found you guys through the Minis on the Dragon sponsor page. I've been attending Miatas at the Gap since the beginning in 1997. This past year was the first one I've skipped. Being local to the Gap, it's hard not to go every year, and I expect I'll see a lot of you in April. Everybody say howdy to Daphne, the hot redhead. It's nasty, cold and rainy here tonight, so I didn't get to spend much time with her. I'm still trying to figure out the radio, etc. There are so many buttons and doodads to mess with, I'll probably spend all day Saturday sitting in the garage fiddling with controls and making vroom vroom sounds with my mouth.
Outstanding looking JCW. Redheads are HOT  Welcome to the addiction...you'll feel right at home here
Nice MINI. That color combo reminds me of the old Abarth Fiat 500. Hot car. If you're local to the gap, check out the Tar Heel MINI Motoring Club, too. We're mostly based in NC, but we do a lot of runs on and around the Blue Ridge Parkway, and we organize a trip to the Dragon every fall, Minis Slay the Sleeping Dragon. MINI's & Miata's sweet... Nice MINI, but nothing wrong with owning both. I have one of each & they compliment each other very well. Best of both worlds. Enjoy the new MINI!
I own a MINI and a Miata. I really like both, but if one of them has to go it will be the Miata. That is a great color combination!
Fellow former miata owner I also had a miata for a long time. 94-09. It's nice to be able to haul 3 kids with me now and not need to switch to a big car. I never modded my miata because I kept thinking I'd trade it for something better but there wasn't anything that exciting to me until the mini. I like small sporty cars. I drove a 1970 MGB for years before I got the miata. Great handling small cars don't need a lot of power to be fun but add a ton of power and torque and WOW! I'm loving my juiced up R56. Enjoy your new baby!
One of my old golf buddies bought a dark blue Miata drop head last summer. He had to take the clubs out of the bag to load them. I twisted his tail about never having the top down, it took pressure off of always trying to find something new to say about his opening drive. I showed him how to make it sparkle inside and out. And he died 4 months after he got it. His old heart just couldn't take the excitement I guess. He never gave us a ride in it either.
